OLD TOWN - Old Town's largest annual celebration will welcome a hometown hero at this year's Riverfest to be held the weekend of Sept. 28 - 30.

Nick Noonan of Old Town and his fianc, Amy Heidemann, make up the pop duo Karmin and are scheduled to be the Grand Marshals for the Riverfest parade on Saturday, Sept. 29 at 10 a.m., according to Carol May, one of Riverfest's organizers.

Karmin are currently enjoying international success with their first major label album 'Hello!' on Epic Records and have been on tour around the world since its release in mid-May. Days before arriving in Old Town, Karmin will perform concerts in Australia, Arkansas and Texas

Karmin appeared during Old Town Riverfest's 2010 celebration and staged a surprise performance at the Riverfront Park gazebo.

According to May, Karmin has not confirmed a performance for this year's Riverfest. 'We are very pleased to have them back,' she said. 'We're guessing they will come down to the park to meet people after the parade, but no performance is planned, as far as we know.'
