Private dinner & concert with singer Meredith Andrews

BANGOR - The city of Bangor is attracting more and more musicians than ever before. From rock to pop, country to gospel, there's a show for almost any music fan out there. However, ticket holders rarely get the opportunity to eat dinner with an artist prior to a concert - until now. On May 15, fans of

Christian artist Meredith Andrews will have the chance to dine and mingle with her at the Spectacular Event Center on the Griffin Road in Bangor before she performs.

"Meredith's music and voice are wonderful. The fact that she's coming with her husband is going to be really, really special too," said Kristen Hornbrook, event organizer and volunteer at The Shepherd's Godparent Home.

This private show and dinner is a fundraiser for The Shepherd's Godparent Home. All the proceeds from ticket sales will go directly to the Bangor maternity home to help them purchase a van to transport their residents and their babies to appointments and church.

"I was trying to find a way to help non-profits. They need me and I need them," said Jane Arey, Spectacular Event Center owner and events planner. "I wanted to be a part of somehow helping an organization that wanted a hand up not a hand out."

Arey teamed up with The Shepherd's Godparent Home after learning more about the faith driven non-profit that not only helps expectant mothers in crisis but also operates without the use of any state or federal funds. She, herself, booked Andrews and created a dinner menu for the event that she is hoping will be a wonderful night for the non-profit and those in attendance.

"We are really hoping and praying that we'll sell every seat at the event," said Hornbrook. "Anything [raised] over and above that van need will go toward the home's mortgage. Last May they moved from a home that was fully paid for to a larger home with a mortgage."

For $55, ticket holders will get to experience a private concert with Meredith Andrews on Thursday, May 15 as well as dine on a four course meal from 6-10 p.m. That price will increase to $75 after April 1. Those wishing to purchase a ticket can do so by logging onto or contacting the Spectacular Event Center at 941-8700. Sponsorship opportunities are also available for those who can't attend but would still like to show their support for the non-profit. For more information on sponsorships contact Kristen Hornbrook at 991-2889.

"To me, dinner gives an event that whole 'evening experience' and an experience is what we want people to walk away with," said Arey. "I'm just so excited about this, I can't even stand it."
