Quoth The Raven' total bore

Written by Allen Adams
Sometimes, you just know. Maybe you're watching a trailer or reading a preview; you're learning about an upcoming movie for the first time. Just like that, an epiphany about this movie strikes.
It is going to be terrible.

Getting together with American Reunion'

Written by Allen Adams
The movies we see and love as young adults often go on defining our cinematic tastes long after we have supposedly 'grown up.' However, the opportunity to see the cast of one of those movies after they too have grown up is pretty rare.
'American Reunion' is that opportunity.

'The Hunger Games' a satisfying meal

Written by Wire Reports
Literature aimed at young adults has served as the basis for two of the most popular (not to mention lucrative) film franchises in history. Both J.K. Rowling's 'Harry Potter' series and Stephanie Meyer's 'Twilight' books have spawned movies that have made hundreds of millions of dollars at the box office.
Suzanne Collins's book 'The Hunger Games,' as well as the two subsequent books in the series, aims to be the next blockbuster in line.

Dr. Seuss saves the Earth The Lorax'

Written by Allen Adams
The works of Dr. Seuss have been adapted to the big screen many times over the years with mixed results. For whatever reason, some of his stories translate well to film while others simply do not. However, his canon is so universally beloved that the movies just keep on coming.
The latest attempt is 'The Lorax,' from the same team that did 2010's excellent 'Despicable Me.' Chris Renaud and Ken Daurio are certainly talented, and there are some great moments here, but the movie never seems to quite live up to its potential.

'Project X' deserves an F

Written by Allen Adams
Sometimes, a movie comes along that looks just terrible. You see the trailers and read the advance coverage and you think to yourself 'Man, what a steaming pile that movie is going to be.' Of course, you're still kind of titillated by the idea of going to see this awful, awful movie. Sometimes it's fun to see something you know is going to be bad.
But sometimes you get a movie that's beyond bad, a movie that is exponentially worse than even the terrible trailers ever indicated.
Sometimes you get 'Project X.'

Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengance (PG-13)

Written by Wire Reports
This just in: Nicolas Cage is effing crazy. No review of Cage's latest film, 'Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance,' should start from any other point. Cage. Is. Insane. We've all heard the stories of his financial issues and his weird proclivity for buying giant yachts and pyramids. We all know that his Elvis obsession was so deep that he married the King's daughter and that he named one of his kids Kal-El after Superman.

This Means War (PG-13)

Written by Wire Reports
One of the unfortunate aspects of today's Hollywood is the obsessive need to produce work that appeals to the broadest possible audience. When you try to appeal to everyone, however, you wind up diluting the product. You wind up with a film that still has the stink of excessive focus grouping all over it. It's just too bad when it happens to a movie that should have been better - a movie like 'This Means War.'

Safe House (R)

Written by Wire Reports
I imagine that we all have certain actors whose work we particularly enjoy. All movie stars are not created equal - everyone has a favorite, someone who consistently hits home runs in his or her eyes. On the flip side, I (and I'm sure most of you) also have actors - not many, but a few - whose work I simply cannot stand. For whatever reason, their continued popularity not only confuses me, but actively offends me as well. But what happens when a favorite and a not-favorite wind up on screen together? 'Safe House.' That's what happens.

The Vow (PG-13)

Written by Wire Reports
I have no problem with being emotionally manipulated by a movie. I think those artificial feelings are a huge part of why we go to the movies in the first place. However, when that manipulation becomes too forced and overt, it loses its impact and becomes hollow and false. It becomes a movie like 'The Vow.'
