Elton John tribute at Fort Knox

PROSPECT People have the choice of listening to vintage Elton John songs or the lyrical tunes coming from massed bagpipe bands in the coming next two weekends at the Fort Knox State historic site. The two events, which are part of the Friends of Fort Knox's annual special event schedule, take place on Saturday evening, July 7 and 14.

The first music show will feature the Elton John tribute band Yellow Brick Road, Saturday, July 7, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., on the Fort parade grounds. Event organizers say that this band is like listening to the real renowned performer (listen on the Friends' website, fortknox.maineguide.com, under event section). Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for children 12 and under. Bring your lawn chairs, blankets and a picnic. Dancing is allowed and encouraged. Costuming is optional. Tickets may be purchased at the Fort Visitor Center gift shop the day of event or in advance (469-6553).

The second show will feature the annual Scottish Tattoo, Saturday, July 14, from 6 to 8 p.m., on the Fort parade grounds, which presents massed marching bagpipe bands from throughout the State of Maine. Tickets for the event are $10 per person or $5 for children 12 and under. Advanced tickets may be purchased at the FFK gift shop or by calling the gift shop at 469-6553. Tickets may also be purchased the evening of the event at the Fort Knox gift shop.
