BANGOR The celebration of arts and culture in Bangor continues. In addition to ongoing exhibits and events, check out these events. For a complete and up-to-date listing visit and click on the event link.

Oct. 29: Reception for the annual Maine Discovery Museum Art Auction, 4:30-7:30 p.m. Art from the auction will be on display.

Oct. 29 AND 31: Robinson Ballet 'Thriller' dance class; learn all the moves to Michael Jackson's classic dance from 'Thriller.' 7 p.m.

Oct. 29and 11 a.m. Oct. 31 at the Robinson Ballet studios at the corner of Union and Main Streets.

Oct. 30 AND 31: BanGOREfest, a two-day convention on horror movies, 6-10 p.m. Friday and 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday at the Cross Insurance Center. Organized by the Bangor Comic & Toy Con, featuring tabletop and video games, movie screenings and tons of vendors.

Oct. 30, 31 and Nov. 1: 'Shuddersome: Tales of Poe,' a Penobscot Theatre Dramatic Academy youth production, 5 p.m. Oct 30., 4 p.m. Oct. 31, 11 a.m. Nov. 1 at the Bangor Opera House.

Oct. 30: 6th Annual Live Halloween Radio Broadcast 'Tales of Mystery and Imagination' by Edgar Allan Poe - The Premature Burial' presented by The New England School of Communication at Husson University Gracie Theatre at Husson University - 7:30 p.m. Admission is free.

Oct. 31: Penobscot Theatre presents 'Creating a Character,' a master acting class with visiting artist Mark Chambers, 10:30 a.m.-12 noon at the Bangor Opera House rehearsal space. $25; space is limited, for reservations call 942-6618.

Oct. 31: Historical tours of the Bangor Opera house, 1 and 2 p.m., led by Penobscot Theatre staff and volunteers. $10 per person.

Oct. 31: Downtown Bangor Partnership Halloween festivities; includes trick or treating at downtown businesses and costume parade in the afternoon, and adult activities at night.

Oct. 31: 11am-2pm A workshop at Maine Jewelry & Art on making foam-carved, diorama pumpkins to take home. Materials supplied. Space limited, register early. $30, ages 12-plus. 100 Harlow St. RSVP 941-8600.

Oct. 31: Halloween party with They Called Me Legion, 9 p.m. at the Central Gallery, 89 Central St. Wear costumes! Donations accepted.
