'The Marvelous Wonderettes' takes you to the 1958 Springfield High School prom where we meet the Wonderettes, four girls with hopes and dreams as big as their crinoline skirts and voices to match. As we learn about their lives and loves, we are treated to the girls performing such classic songs as 'Lollipop,' 'Dream Lover,' 'Stupid Cupid,' 'Lipstick On Your Collar,' 'Hold Me, Thrill Me, Kiss Me,' 'It's My Party', 'Son of a Preacher Man' and over 20 other classic hits. 'The Marvelous Wonderettes' is an unforgettable, must-take musical trip down memory lane.
This production, directed and choreographed by Penobscot Theatre Interim Artsitic Director Nathan Halvorson, features Penobscot Theatre favorites Brianne Beck and Christie Robinson and introduces Sara Dobrinich and Melissa Hammans as The Wonderettes. Will Shuler leads the four-piece band including Allison Bankston, Gaylen Smith andChris Viner.
The production features scenic design by Erik D. Diaz, costume design by Anna-Marlies Hunter, lighting design byJonathan Spencer and props design by Meredith Perry.
For the fourth year in a row, PTC is taking part in Free Night of Theater, a national initiative of Theatre Communications Group, designed to introduce the magic of live theatre to new audiences. PTC will give away 200 tickets to 'The Marvelous Wonderettes' for first-time theatre attendees during the first week of performances.
