Line up to include popular acts in music, improv, comedy

BANGOR - The Gracie Theatre at Husson University is proud to announce its inaugural season for the 2012/13 academic year. Together with founding season sponsor Bangor Savings Bank, the Gracie will present four touring productions, including Chicago's Second City improv group, Tony-winner Jennifer Holliday, the popular Potted Potter show and the hilarious 'Deer Camp, the Musical.'

'We are very excited for this milestone,' said Jeri Misler, managing director for the Gracie Theatre. 'This inaugural season features something for everyone in the Greater Bangor area as well as the Husson community. The shows were selected not only for their current popularity around the country, but for the high quality entertainment they will bring to Bangor.'

'Bangor Savings Bank is excited to partner with Husson's Gracie Theatre to bring this exciting line-up for their inaugural season. We are proud to support the arts which have an economic benefit to Maine and its communities,' said Carol Colson, senior vice president, director of Marketing and Community Relations for Bangor Savings Bank.

The season kicks off Saturday, Sept. 20, 2012 with Chicago's popular comedy improv group taking on the election in Second City for President. The group runs strictly on a 'pro-comedy platform,' promising to dole out laughter at the expense of both sides of the aisle.

Tony and two-time Grammy Award-winning recording artist Jennifer Holliday will usher in the holiday season with a concert Friday, Nov. 16. Her recent duet performance with Jessica Sanchez on 'American Idol' received widespread praise, plus a standing ovation from judges and audience alike.

Smash hit Potted Potter will liven up the winter blues Sunday, Jan. 27, 2013 by bringing to life 'all seven Harry Potter books in 70 hilarious minutes.' Dan and Jeff, the BBC's famous comic duo, are currently playing to sell-out crowds Off-Broadway with rave reviews from Potter fans.

Finally, the 'Darryl brothers' of 'The Bob Newhart Show' fame bring their hilarious 'Deer Camp, the Musical' to the Gracie stage Saturday, March 2, 2013. With songs such as 'Mighty Hunters' and 'She's Playing Bingo,' four fearless hunters reveal the truth about what happens at deer camp.

Subscriptions will be priced at $75 for all four shows and $25 for single show tickets. With support from founding sponsors Bangor Savings Bank and Husson, the Gracie is able to offer subscribers the $25 discount. In doing so, the theatre hopes to see many new and returning audience members. Misler explained, 'When you take the Gracie's intimate setting and superior sound system and add in top-notch performances at an affordable price, you have a winning season.'
