With such hit singles as 'Red Solo Cup' from his 2011 album 'Clancy's Tavern' to this year's fast-rising track 'Hope on the Rocks' from his 16th album of the same name, the 51-year-old singer, songwriter and actor has been one of country music's most prolific stars with more than 37 million albums sold and earning Forbes' designation as one of the highest-grossing stars of the genre.
He will be appearing with opener Kip Moore.
In contrast, rapper Lil Wayne his real name is Dwayne Michael Carter, Jr. has had a much shorter career but one that began for the New Orleans native at the age of nine when he became the youngest member of the Cash Money Records label. He released his debut album, 'The Block is Hot,' in 1999 and since then the 30-year-old Grammy-award winning hip hop star has released 10 studio albums, has collaborated on eight others and last September surpassed Elvis Presley as the male with the most singles ever on Billboard's Hot 100 list at 109.
His tour announced that Lil Wayne will appear at Bangor's waterfront on Tuesday, July 23, with fellow hip hop stars T.I. and Future. The rapper's appearance is a first of the hip hop genre for Waterfront Concerts.
'He is one of the biggest in the game right now,' said promoter Alex Gray of Waterfront Concerts. 'Support is very strong with T.I.'
