BANGOR 'The Nite Show with Danny Cashman' will celebrate WABI's 60th anniversary with a one-hour version of the show at an earlier time. "The Nite Show Celebrates 60 Years of Great TV on WABI" will air at 7 p.m. on Saturday, June 29. The show will bring together WABI personalities from the past and present, blending interviews with the show's usual amount of comedy and music.

'It is sometimes mind boggling to think that WABI's vast, impressive history now includes a nearly three-year run of a local late-night talk show," said Nite Show host Danny Cashman. "When given the opportunity to honor that history, we jumped on it. We'll have some great interviews, some comedy bits that pay homage to WABI's legacy ... and - as they used to say at TV5 - something special, too."

"The Nite Show Celebrates 60 Years of Great TV on WABI" will feature interviews with George Hale & Walt Abbott; former news anchors Don Colson & Felicia Knight; the folks who played the roles of "Bozo the Clown" & "Ringmaster Bob" in the 1960s, Mike Dolley & Bob Woodbury; and the longest tenured current members of the TV 5 news team, Chris Ewing & Tim Throckmorton. The show will also include a featured performance from The Nite Show's house band, The Jump City Jazz Band, as well as a comedy bit that will bring together many of the current anchors of the TV 5 news team. The Nite Show's longtime announcer Joe Kennedy will also be on hand for the show's first special in an earlier time slot on WABI.

"This show is unique to Maine and really to most local TV markets," said WABI program director Steve Hiltz. "We have been airing special 'Time Capsules' that look back on WABI's history, but with 'The Nite Show' we had the opportunity to feature some of our most well-known personalities in a setting that is fun, unpredictable, and popular. This one-hour special will truly be something fun to watch."

'The Nite Show with Danny Cashman' is a Maine-based late night talk show, modeled after the format made famous by programs hosted by Johnny Carson and David Letterman. The show is seen Saturday nights at 11:30 on WABI-TV 5 in Bangor, and Saturday nights at 10 on WPXT-TV 51, The CW, in Portland.
