In 2016, the Darling's Waterfront Pavilion will showcase 20-plus artists at its venue and the Maine State Pier will showcase close to 30 artists throughout the beautiful Maine summer. REVERB's 'Eco-Village' will be onsite at every concert at each venue to offer custom, limited-edition Nalgene reusable water bottles for a donation, provide free refill water stations, solar-powered phone charging stations, and connections with community causes. Maine Conservation Voters will be a part of each Eco-Village, engaging Mainers who are invested in the future of our state's natural resources.
In Bangor, Waterfront Concerts is constructing a permanent Eco-Village from an upcycled shipping container. While REVERB often travels on tours with an Eco-Village of tents, this marks the first time a venue has created a permanent structure presence. The partnership will allow REVERB to do important work in its home state, while engaging music fans across a broad spectrum of demographics. Donations raised from the water bottle program will support REVERB and other Maine-based environmental non-profits.
'We're very excited to dive into this project and as Mainers, engage Mainers in reducing plastic waste, protecting our ocean, and supporting our communities. We are excited to work with fans and artists across a diverse range of music to make all of us, from REVERB and Waterfront concerts to each fan who came to a show, really proud,' said REVERB co-founder and Director Adam Gardner.
Since the venue is located on a former industrial site, several 'Green' technologies are already in place at the venue including, permeable pavement and rain gardens for the treatment of storm water and the placement of solar panels in various areas of the venue. The venue has also partnered with Bangor Greendrinks to now offer a reusable and collectable Klean Kanteen stainless steel pint for beverages.
Some of the other greening initiatives that the venue plans for the 2016 season is a partnership with Uber to help promote ride sharing and the inclusion of a carbon off-set fee that will be included in the ticket fees.
Additionally, a new service that will be offered this season for concertgoers is a bike valet. To operate the valet, Waterfront Concerts has partnered with downtown business, Explore Bangor, and local advocacy group, Walk-n-Roll.
