The brewers worked directly with the tour and have paired up to name and create a specialty release beer for each of the bands on the tour as well as having all four of the breweries collaborate on an official Wheels of Soul Tour specialty release.
Each of the beers will be featured and available for purchase at the Tedeschi Trucks Band show at the Darling's Waterfront Pavilion on July 15th. Towards the end of June, the breweries will also be hosting exclusive release parties for each of the beers across various weeks and venues throughout the state to showcase each of the styles of beer and make them available to the general public before the show. There will also be ticket giveaways and other prizes during these release parties.
Participating in this unique celebration of music and brews:
Bangor's own Geaghan Bros. Brewing Co.; Gneiss Brewing Company out of Limerick; Orono Brewing Company; Rising Tide from Portland; and Sebago Brewing Co. out of Gorham. Each brewery brings its respective style and brewing approach to this project; the focus is to tie-in a story throughout the beer experience much like that of a song.
The announcement of the collaboration of brews and music comes as the craft beer industry celebrates the kick off to American Craft Beer Week and is unlike any collaboration of its kind.
'Many musicians enjoy great beer, and many breweries enjoy great music. There have been several bands with a beer brewed especially for them, but we don't believe that there have been beers designed like this, incorporating other breweries from across a state to brew for a tour. It really shows the collaboration and community of Maine's brewing industry,' said Andrew Geaghan, Owner and Head Brewer of Geaghan Bros. Brewing Co.
The four beers being brewed will feature a Session IPA, an Amber, a Wit style brew, and the overarching collaboration, an American Pale Ale.
