BANGOR - A familiar face is once again gracing the terminals of Bangor International Airport. United has returned to BIA, this time offering once a day non-stop flights to Chicago's O'Hare International Airport on United Express.

"This is exciting to welcome back United to BGR," said Tony Caruso, BIA airport director. "We believe that the service will be very popular and is a wonderful addition to the Bangor market. These new flights will also make it very easy for west coast and southwestern US visitors to get to the Bangor region this summer."

United left BIA almost 20 years ago but renewed its partnership with the airport last Friday when the airlines inaugural flight touched down in Bangor. A small crowd of spectators was on hand to celebrate its arrival.

"United is giving Bangor the world via Chicago! As United's main hub, Chicago offers flights to 160 unique destinations in 17 countries from North and South America, Europe or Asia," said Jameson Ano, senior manager of United Express Operations.

United Express will now be able to offer up to 70 passengers summer flights out of BIA on its CRJ-700 regional jet. The aircraft has six seats in first class and 64 in economy including 16 economy plus seats with extra leg room. The flights will operate once daily fromJune 5 - July 2, and twice daily fromJuly 3 Dec. 2, 2014.
