Odlin Road's My Fork to change its format for the New Year

BANGOR Bigger doesn't always mean better. My Fork, the restaurant and lounge situated on 268 Odlin Road in Bangor, is undergoing a change that will bring the owners back to their family restaurant roots.

Lewis and Dustin Littlefield are co-owners of the restaurant and are reducing the size and scope of what they offer. Rather than offering a restaurant, sports lounge and live music venue, the father-and-son team have decided to simplify and present a family-oriented restaurant with home-cooked meals in a smaller, more comfortable setting.

'We got distracted, trying to be too many things. We want to be focused on what we do well,' said the younger Dustin.

His father, Lewis, who ran the popular Fork-in-the-Road restaurant in Ellsworth, said the restaurant will now be offering breakfasts and bringing back the popular homemade breads and toasts. Lewis is also excited about incorporating seafood with breakfast something he was surprised that other local eateries hadn't done. And frankly, this reporter is incredibly excited about the prospect of lobster omelets.

'For the first time, when people walk in here [the restaurant] will be how we want it to be,' said Dustin. 'We've been 19 different things, but now it will be how we want it. It will be our atmosphere.'

The pair plan to work with area hotels and motels to help provide breakfast and other meals for hungry travels. Lewis noted that there are around 3,200 motels rooms within a mile of My Fork.

'You can come here and get good, home-cooked food in a nice atmosphere and not be afraid to bring the whole family,' said Lewis Littlefield.

To help get people hungry for breakfast, the Littlefields are offering free coffee from Jan. 3 until Jan. 7.
