BREWER - Jane Karker, president of Maine Authors Publishing, is teaching a class on Independent Publishing for Maine Writers at the Brewer Public Library Wednesday, Oct. 7 from 5 p.m. - 6:45 p.m.

Jane will discuss the ins and outs of how to get your manuscript from inception to printed book. 'The publishing industry is rapidly changing and so are the perceptions surrounding independently published books,' says Jane. 'Resources to create a quality product are now more readily available.'

Over the past three months she has been speaking in libraries across the state, teaching independent authors about the changes in publishing, the importance of editing, and how to market their books. By teaming up with local libraries, she hopes to help more Maine writers get their work out there.

For more information about the program contact the Brewer Public Library at (207) 989-7943. The library is located at 100 South Main St. in Brewer.

Maine Authors Publishing provides a cooperative-style model for self-publishing and offers a variety of production and marketing services for independent Maine authors who want to publish their books and get them into the hands of their readers.
