BELFAST - The Belfast Area Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors has appointed Dorothy Havey as the new executive director. Havey currently is the director of finance with the Penobscot Marine Museum in Searsport, a position she will transition from beginning Oct. 1. Previously she was the director of Our Town Belfast, A Main Street Community and has served on many committees in Belfast. She has extensive non-profit management experience as well as public relations, marketing and small-business development experience. Havey has also served as board president of the chamber for the past nine months, a position she said provides her with a head start on her new responsibilities. 'I'm delighted to assume a new role within the chamber,' said Havey. 'I look forward to reconnecting with the businesses, organizations and many friends in the community. The Chamber Board has been so encouraging and I'm confident that excitement about Belfast and Waldo County will only continue to grow. If you aren't a member of the chamber now, it's a great time to join in. Please, give me a call. I'd love to visit your business and hear how the chamber can help you."

Dorothy resides in Lincolnville with her husband, a yellow lab and several cats. When not at work, she 'enjoys riding her motorcycle, reading and spoiling her grandchildren.'
