ORONO — The Lord Hall Gallery at the University of Maine will host an exhibition of stone sculptures created by eight emerging and internationally recognized Maine artists Oct. 6 through Nov. 17.

PORTLAND - Comcast Spectacor, owner of Portland Hockey LLC, has announced the name of their recently purchased ECHL franchise as the Maine Mariners. The name was chosen through a collection of fan submitted names and a vote since the team was introduced in July of this year.

ELLSWORTH – Maine Coast Memorial Hospital in Ellsworth, Blue Hill Memorial Hospital in Blue Hill, RSU 24 Adult Education in Sullivan, Eastern Maine Development Corporation and the Maine Career Centers are partnering to offer a Medical Clinical Assistant Certification Program. 

BANGOR – The Bangor Symphony Orchestra has received a $25,000 grant from the Bangor Savings Bank Foundation to support the Symphony’s efforts to move their operations to downtown Bangor and launch a mixed-use arts venue, the Bangor Arts Exchange.

Abbe Museum announces 2017 fellowship winners

BAR HARBOR — The Abbe Museum is excited to announce the 2017 Wabanaki Artist Fellows: Donna Brown, Penobscot, Jeremy Frey, Passamaquoddy, and Geo Neptune, Passamaquoddy. These exceptionally creative artists – who through color, form, language, and sound – interpret the past, understand the present, and envision the future for Wabanaki people across the state of Maine. These fellowships are made possible through support from Dawnland, LLC.

Rock opera to premiere at the Waterville Opera House 

BANGOR - The Challenger Learning Center of Maine is pleased to announce that Maine's Astronauts -Captain Christopher Cassidy from York, and Dr. Jessica Meir from Caribou - will be making special guest appearances to inspire young people participating in Challenger's Astronaut Academy.

Maine journalist Pierce takes on new role

AUGUSTA - Kathleen Pierce, a well-known journalist with the Bangor Daily News who has covered the Maine food and hospitality scene for years, is stepping into a newly created role as Director of Membership and Communications for both associations.  

MILLINOCKET - The Town of Millinocket and Our Katahdin, a regional nonprofit, have formalized a three-year agreement to collaborate on the redevelopment of the Millinocket mill site to benefit the people of the Katahdin region.
