Krazy Katt

Celebrity Slam is a numbers game we need to fill this space every week, and so we are profoundly grateful to those famous people who can't go two days without saying or doing something ridiculous and/or awful. Your Biebers, your Kardashians, your Kanyes these are the entitled idiots that really drive this feature.

However, there is something to be said for quality as well. There are a few celebs out there who, while their appearances are rarer than those made by the aforementioned regulars, make up for their infrequency by being just batst when they DO turn up. Randy Quaid and Charlie Sheen have fallen into that role for me.

More monkey business

As anyone who reads this space with regularity is aware, we're not at all averse to going for the low-hanging fruit. Sure, we could dig a little deeper in our quest to scorn and deride the failings of the famous, but really why bother? There are plenty of celebs who are more than happy to provide a nigh-constant stream of misdeeds and faux pas.

One of our all-time favorites is Justin Bieber. The Biebs has been providing fodder for this feature for what seems like forever; he's definitely earned a place on the Celebrity Slam Mount Rushmore. So what is Bieber doing now to warrant our interest?

No one will believe you

You might have heard about a whole bunch of business involving Kanye West and his new album, about his apparently massive debts and a stinging lyric about Taylor Swift. Honestly, it's kind of in the Celebrity Slam wheelhouse - we've made a lot of hay with Yeezus and his shenanigans over the years and this is more of the same. Truthfully, if we wanted to change the name of this space to 'Kanye Slam,' we could probably still manage our weekly output just fine.

But rather than contribute even further to the steady creep of Kanye Fatigue, we thought we'd make mention of another celebrity, one whose behavior is the sort of odd that rarely gets him mentioned in this space.

The real McCoy

When it comes to Celebrity Slam, we tend to focus more on the world of entertainment. Musicians, actors, reality stars those are the famous folks who usually wind up in our particular spotlight.

However, there's no disputing the fact that athletes are entertainers in their own right. And while their names might not be quite as widely familiar as those of the stars of stage, screen and song, that doesn't mean that they aren't pretty darned famous.

So when they do idiotic things, well it's only right that we're there to give them the business.

Chief Keef beef?

One of the marvelous things about social media is that it provides a much quicker and easier way for celebrities to reach out and connect with their fans. Unfortunately for the famous folks and fortunately for us here at Celebrity Slam it also provides a much quicker and easier way for those same celebrities to say and do the kinds of ridiculous things that land them in this space.

Our latest contestant is rapper Chief Keef.

The hip-hop star recently took to Twitter to exact some sort of revenge on someone who has apparently wronged him. He posted a street address in Minneapolis and invited his followers of which there are more than a million to 'throw eggs and st in a bag and rocks and all that and Ima repost it.'

Crazy in B.o.B.-flat

Sometimes, filling this space can be tough. The foibles of the rich and famous don't operate on any sort of timetable. As delightful as it would be to be able to control the whens and wheres of celebrity missteps, things simply don't work that way. We must sit and wait patiently and hope that someone somewhere will say or do something worthy of our scorn and derision.

However, there are some weeks when a beautiful piece of celebrity lunacy springs forth fully-formed as if leaping from the head of a pop culture Zeus. Those weeks are the best weeks. Thanks to hip-hop artist B.o.B., this is one such week. Why?

Backstreet brawler

We have a lot of fun with famous folks in this space, but we're always going to hold a special place in our hearts for the has-beens. These are the people who are willing to do whatever is necessary to retain some semblance of fame, whether it's continuing to release albums that no wants to buy or participating in the increasingly inaccurately-titled 'Dancing with the Stars.'

While it is certainly fun to take the biggest of big names to task, there's something magical about those who, despite having largely receded into the shadows, still get up to the dizzying heights of superstar idiocy.

Pyramid scheme

It's no secret that there are a handful of famous people who get targeted in this space significantly more often than most. These are the celebrities who can always be relied upon to make bad choices and say unfortunate things and generally just make themselves look clueless and/or delusional.

One of our all-time favorites is Justin Bieber. The Biebs is an ideal subject for Celebrity Slam, a perfect storm of too-early fame, outsized ego and youthful idiocy. In years past, he's provided a lot of fodder. However, it was starting to look like Justin was starting to grow up a little perhaps we would have to move on to greener, more Slammable pastures.

Happily, this turns out not to be the case.

Motley metaphor

Every so often, I'm confronted with an item that defies definition. These events, while not necessarily Slam-worthy, resonate and continue resonating. These are the moments when the general confines of this space must be shrugged off so that mention can be made of something wonderful.

This week, that moment is Tommy Lee.

For those who were unaware, Motley Crue is allegedly finishing up their last-ever tour. While we should all probably reserve judgment on the veracity of that claim rock and roll retirement has never been a cut-and-dried thing the fact remains that if they've reached the end, then they've gone out in a weird (and somehow weirdly appropriate) way.

In a New Year's Eve show at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, Lee took one final ride on the massive drum kit/roller coaster that the band has dubbed the Cruecifly (because of course they have). As he reached the ride's ill-conceived apex when he sat strapped to his stool upside down high above the crowd the Cruecifly chose to soar no more, leaving the drummer dangling helplessly as he waited for crew members to come rescue him.

#nosausage

While we have no problems taking shot after shot at the foibles and failings of famous folks, there are certain things that we try to stay away from. In particular, we generally steer clear of stuff that involves the children of celebrities (you know, beyond the ridiculous names with which they're often saddled).
