AUGUSTA- Sixty two teams descended on the Augusta Civic Center to finish up their First Lego League season on Saturday, Dec. 14. Teams from all over the state competed with their Lego robots on this year's "Nature's Fury" playing field.

The First Lego League is an international competition with over 20,000 teams of 9- to 14-year-old students, all working and learning about natural disasters.

The competition is the 14th annual Maine First Lego League Championship and is run by Maine Robotics of Orono. The 2013 competition was sponsored by Time Warner Cable and its Connect-a-Million-Minds program, as well as by the Robotic Institute of Maine, the University of Maine College of Engineering and the University of Southern Maine.

The event was also attended by Senator Angus King, Acting Commissioner of Education Jim Rier, Maine Director of the Office of Information Technology Jim Smith, Gubernatorial candidate Elliot Cutler, as well as over 2000 people who came to the all-day event at the Civic Center.
