Kibbles and Picks 2016 - Week 9

It has not been a great first half of the season here at Kibbles and Picks.

Kibbles and Picks 2016 Week 7

Wellit was fun while it lasted.

Turns out my comeback run was destined to be all too brief. I put up a real stinker in Week 6, managing to go just 7-8 the first sub-.500 week of the season on either side. Stella didn't have a spectacular week, but 9-6 is enough to neatly erase the meager gains I made last week.

Kibbles and Picks 2016 Week 5

Wellat least I'm not falling any farther behind.

Stella's three-game cushion remains unchanged after we put up identical 8-7 records last week. We split the six games on which we disagreed; it was a generally blah kind of week for both of us. This thus-far unpredictable season has left us mired in general mediocrity.

Kibbles and Picks 2016 Week 4

Slow and steady wins the race. At least, I hope so.

Week 3 wasn't a great one for either Stella or I, but it was ever-so-slightly better for me. I managed a 9-7 record on last week's slate, while she went 8-8; in essence, we simply flip-flopped our Week 2 records, leaving Stella with the same three-game lead she had after the opening week.

Kibbles and Picks 2016 Week 3

All things considered, it could have been worse.

Things looked good for me going into the last few games last week where I promptly finished with three straight losses. I wound up going 8-8 overall; not bad for a week featuring so many surprises.

Kibbles and Picks 2016 - Week 2

To those right-minded folks out there who predicted that Stella's quest for three out of four would start fast and furious (furry-ous?) well done.

Kibbles and Picks 2016 - Week 1

It would seem that I'm a glutton for punishment.

Kibbles and Picks is back for its fourth year. For those unfamiliar, Kibbles and Picks is a battle of prognosticative powers between myself and my dog Stella. Each week, she and I will pick the winners of each game on the NFL slate. We will tally the totals and hopefully I will manage to outperform the pup.

By any measure, this past Divisional Round was one heck of a good weekend of playoff football. Every single game was extremely competitive and filled with late heroics and great plays and just the right amount of weirdness.

Even with all of the ups and downs, Stella and I managed identical 3-1 records. We were both validated in both of our Saturday picks. New England battled their way to a victory against the Chiefs, ending Kansas City's 11-game winning streak in the process. In the later game, we got to watch the wildly entertaining end to the Green Bay/Arizona match-up. Despite the best efforts of Aaron Rodgers and company, the Cardinals won it in overtime thanks to a huge game from Larry Fitzgerald.

Meanwhile, we split the games on Sunday. Stella's belief that Seattle could upset Carolina was mistaken, though not by nearly as much as it looked when the Panthers were up 31-0. Carolina made me sweat more than I anticipated, but they ultimately got me the win. My seemingly poor pick of the Steelers came closer to paying off than I ever would have guessed considering their injury issues. Still, Stella knew that Denver would come through on their home field and the Broncos wound up holding serve and getting the W.
