Still Life ArtLab Workshop at CMCA
ROCKPORT - Work with a wide variety of media on canvas and black paper to create a series of still life drawings and paintings at CMCA's next ArtLab for All Ages workshop, which takes place Saturday, Sept. 1, from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Center for Maine Contemporary Art, 162 Russell Ave. in Rockport. All supplies will be provided, and the workshop is free and open to everyone.
The instructor for this workshop will be Russell Kahn, who has been a K-12 public school art teacher for more than 20 years. He currently teaches drawing, painting, ceramics and printmaking at Camden Hills Regional High School.
CMCA 2012 Biennial Artists announced
ROCKPORT - The Center for Maine Contemporary Art in Rockport has announced the list of artists for the CMCA 2012 Biennial Exhibition. Co-curators Suzette McAvoy, director of CMCA; and Daphne Anderson Deeds, an independent curator from Connecticut, have chosen 17 artists for the exhibition.
“There were 415 artists who submitted to the 2012 Biennial and more than 3,350 individual works in a wide range of mediums,” said McAvoy. “After thorough review and much difficult decision making, Daphne and I ultimately selected ten artists from the open submissions and invited seven others to participate.”
The seven invited artists are Tom Butler, Rockland; Lauren Fensterstock, Portland; Cassie Jones, Brunswick; Luc Demers, Portland; Lisa Kellner, Rangeley; David Stess, Cherryfield; and Kitty Wales, Vinalhaven.
The 10 selected artists are Kenny Cole, Monroe; Grace DeGenarro, Yarmouth; Lynda Litchfield, Cape Elizabeth; Robin Mandel, Cushing; James Marshall, Brunswick; Jonathan Mess, Jefferson; Benjamin Potter, Belfast; Kate Russo, Rockland; Aaron Stephen, Portland; and Erik Wiesenburger, South Portland
