BANGOR Although the Bangor Public Library is still a labyrinth due to construction, it is slowly reintroducing programming into the daily mix. Local author and former University of Maine professor Ann James Joles will be presenting on her book: 'Sink or Swim: The Incredibly Simple Rules for a Healthy, Low-Stress, and Successful College Education' on Wednesday, March 9 at 5:30 p.m. in the Library's Lecture Hall.

'It is always a pleasure to support a local author,' says Barbara McDade, library director. 'This book can help students and parents be prepared to navigate the complex nature of college. This book is a useful tool to learn how to be successful.'

Dramatic Academy offers seven weeks of full-day programming in Downtown Bangor

BANGOR - Registration is now open for Penobscot Theatre Company's Dramatic Academy Summer 2016. Young performers, technicians and theatre newbies are invited to help bring two sensational productions to life. "We are beyond thrilled to produce the hit musical that is currently rocking Broadway, Andrew Lloyd Webber's School of Rock,' based on the Paramount movie starring Jack Black!" said Director of Education Amy Roeder. "In addition, we have a tremendous new work, Transformer Tales: Stories of the Dawnland' which is being devised with members of the Penobscot Nation. This world premiere production will be produced as part of Acadia National Park's Centennial Celebration and will be performed on Indian Island, in Acadia National Park, and of course on our own historic Opera House stage. What an exceptional summer this is for Dramatic Academy!"

Jimmy Buffett to play the Waterfront

BANGOR The wait is over. Jimmy Buffett and the Coral Reefer Band will perform at Darling's Waterfront Pavilion for one night only, Thursday, Aug. 18 at 7 p.m., as part of Jimmy Buffett's I Don't Know Tour 2016.

Local Parrotheads won't want to miss their chance to soak in the full Margaritaville experience.

"We are thrilled to have Jimmy Buffett & the Coral Reefer Band visit Bangor this summer," said Alex Gray of Waterfront Concerts. "This is a concert that we have been working towards for many years! Do not miss out on this party. Truly the must see concert of the season!"

BANGOR The City of Bangor and Spectra Venue Management, managers of Cross Insurance Center, are excited to announce that Comedian Ron 'Tater Salad' White, best known as the cigar-smoking, scotch-drinking funnyman from the Blue Collar Comedy Tour phenomenon, will be coming to Bangor's Cross Insurance Center this summer, July 30, 2016 with his stand-up show. The comedian's stand-up act will take place on the first Saturday of this year's fair and will add an exciting element to the annual community event. The Bangor State Fair will take place July 29-Aug. 7.
