Checking In with the BPL – Thoughts of spring gardening

I was cozily ensconced in a blanket, as the snow from our most recent blizzard was falling, when my thoughts began to wander towards spring. I’m thinking yours might have wandered there too, dreaming about spring days and warm afternoons on the porch. I happen to be married to someone with a landscape degree – if you aren’t so lucky, Bangor Public Library can help with a large selection of Gardening books, magazines and the like.

As a result of your feedback, we have created several new subject “glades” in our stacks. One of these is on gardening! To make your favorite things easier to find, we’ve conveniently combined them all in one location. That means if you visit our gardening glade, along with books on the subject, we also have a number of different magazines that can help you on your way in both digital download and physical form. For digital downloads, we have Fine Gardening, Organic Gardening, Rodale’s Organic Life, House Beautiful, This Old House, HGTV and a few others that might catch your interest as you’re trying to banish the winter blues.

If you are more of an interactive learner, we have a number of classes available on our Universal Class website. This includes landscaping, gardening, and even flower arranging.

If you’re not a gardening enthusiast, try our food or hobby glades. We hope that you will take some time to come enjoy our collection. We are always adding new books and I’m certain you can find something perfect for you. I know I’ve had my eye on Alton Brown’s newest cookbook, but I’m giving you all a chance to check it out first!

Stay warm and dry this winter but take some time to come visit us soon. We’d love to show you around our new space!
