Man wanted for murder spotted in Guilford woods

GUILFORD State Police say fugitive Robert Burton was seen on June 17 along a snowmobile trail in Guilford. He was spotted by a local resident who called police about 5:45 p.m. Burton was seen stepping onto the trail from the woods. He saw the other man and then quickly disappeared back into the woods. The sighting was along the ITS snowmobile trail, off Route 15, near the Lows Covered Bridge.

Abbott man crashes in restaurant parking lot

BREWER - On June 14, police received the report that a driver in a minivan had struck a rock wall and was heading to Brewer. Sgt. Nelson Feero was driving towards the scene when he saw a van matching the description stopped one and half car lengths from the stop line at a red light. While Feero waited for the light, the van accelerated rapidly and sped through the red light. Feero activated his blue lights and turned to follow the vehicle, which was travelling well over the posted speed limit, according to police.

Lost and found

BOWDOINHAM State Police say the case of the missing kayak that disappeared along the Interstate is over, and the kayak has been returned to its owner. The case was resolved in part by Maine Department of Transportation Spokesman Ted Talbot. Talbot called State Police to say he saw the kayak being loaded onto an SUV. That information led to a man from greater Portland later calling in to say he had picked it up.

Suspicious packages cleared

KENNEBUNK Two packages that caused the Kennebunk Plaza to shut down posed no threat to the public, said Maine State Police. The two suspicious packages were back packs. One was found to contain clothing, the other garbage. The scare prompted the evacuation of the plaza and diverted traffic for several hours.

DEDHAM Maine State Police have arrested four persons in connection with the seizure of bath salts from a Dedham house early last week.
