Free Medical Assistant certification program in Ellsworth

ELLSWORTH – Maine Coast Memorial Hospital in Ellsworth, Blue Hill Memorial Hospital in Blue Hill, RSU 24 Adult Education in Sullivan, Eastern Maine Development Corporation and the Maine Career Centers are partnering to offer a Medical Clinical Assistant Certification Program. 

Individuals interested in free training to become a Certified Medical Clinical Assistant are invited to learn more by attending a free Information Session at Ellsworth City Hall, located at 1 City Hall Plaza. Those interested can choose to attend one of two sessions: Tuesday, Oct. 10 from 3-5 p.m. or Thursday, Oct. 12 from 6-8 p.m. 

The Medical Clinical Assistant program is a five-month training program that will include 140 classroom hours and 100 hours of clinical training. Candidates who successfully complete the training will be interviewed by Maine Coast Memorial Hospital and Blue Hill Memorial Hospital, both members of the Eastern Maine Healthcare System, for open clinical assistant positions.

“We are excited to be working with Maine Coast Memorial Hospital to launch this Medical Assistant training program. This program creates the opportunity to help MCMH and BHMH reach their staffing goals and at the same time, provide an excellent career pathway for local residents,” stated a press release from EMDC.

Eastern Maine Development Corporation office in Ellsworth at the Mill Mall across from Sylvia’s

Café to register for one of the Information Sessions. The Ellsworth office is open 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. Immediate program information is also available at RSU#24 Adult Education; call (207) 422-4794.

The classroom training will be held on Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday evenings from 6-9:30 p.m. Trainings are scheduled to begin the week of Oct. 30.
